Chaff

Chaff.  That’s what remains when the wheat is extracted from the stock.

The wheat is for food…the stocks for straw — but the chaff is useless.

Jesus used this to describe the ministry of the Holy Spirit.

“His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.”

You will find chaff in the church – attitudes of irreverence…compromising practices…and misplaced priorities.

But…it’s not only the church corporately that needs cleansing – it’s the people of the church individually who need the same.

You may find chaff in your own life — hidden sin…worldly practices…and impure thoughts.

It is time for the Holy Spirit to clear out the threshing floor.
