The Gospel

The gospel.  Is it about what you can do for God…or about what God has done for you?

The good news is this – it is about what God has done for you in Jesus.

That truth is expressed by the Apostle Paul – “…a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ.”

The old covenant law is about what you can do.  But the new covenant is about what God has done for you – in Christ.

This does not exclude the law…but puts it in proper sequence.  It’s God work first…and then it’s your work as a consequence of His work.

Put differently — you will not need to strive to gain God’ favor…because you have been granted His favor through the cross.
