Delayed Obedience

Delayed obedience.  But…that is disobedience.

A child replies to a parental directive – later.  That’s not obedience.  That’s disobedience.

Listen to the words of the psalmist.  “I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.”

A parishioner hears the message of the pastor…but decides to wait before responding.  Delay is disobedience.

An addict is challenged to change.  But the response is to wait until later.  Delayed obedience is disobedience.

A call to serve is given.  But the hearer decides to just think about it awhile.  Delayed obedience is disobedience.

Today is the day of salvation.  No delay.  No procrastination.  No excuses.

When the Holy Spirit speaks — respond.  No delay.  Because to delay is to be disobedient.

I’ll say yes – and do it now.  Let that be your pledge.
