Double-crossed

Double-crossed. The tongue has the power to do just that.

The psalmist speaks of a companion whose “…speech is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords.”

Sometimes…it’s called a sharp tongue – it cuts another person into pieces. The perpatrator use words that are smooth…but can turn in a moment and become a sword. It’s a nasty setup…designed to hurt and demoralize.

Stay away from that kind of person…and be sure you don’t ever allow yourself to use words to destroy others.

In other words…tame the tongue. Put reins on it. Make it subservient to your control.

Use your tongue to glorify God – and bless others.
