Death and Extinction

Death and extinction.  The first is transitional – but the second is annihilation.

It says of Isaac — “Then he breathed his last and died and was gathered to his people, old and full of years.”

His death is viewed as natural…predictable…and transitional.

Granted…the after-life is not fully delineated in the Old Testament…but it is clear that the patriarchs had a view of death as transitional.

David speaks of future reunion with his son who had died in infancy.

Sadly…often death is viewed as extinction rather than transitional.  Not so.  Death is a gateway into eternity.  It’s not the end — it’s the beginning.

“…absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
